I emailed Lakland about this very thing because I wanted to know how to look after my 55-02 rosewood board. This is their reply:

We use pure orange oil to clean the fingerboards. There are plenty of other things out there that can work, but orange oil is probably the safest. Try to find orange oil without any thinners or silicones. After the fingerboard is cleaned, we apply Howard brand Feed-n-Wax. This is essentially a blend of bees wax, carnauba wax and orange oil. Follow the directions on the bottle. One application of the Feed-n-wax usually is good for about six months, depending on the amount of use that your bass gets. A good rule of thumb is to clean and treat the fingerboard when you change the strings. These products should be available at most hardware stores or any store that specializes in the care of fine furniture.

I use mineral oil for my FB's, usually buy it as GHS Fast Fret, convenient way to clean the strings too. Fingerease will work too, same type of stuff.
