Using a Capo?

Sign in to disble this ad
An Idea i have had is to set my cort up in F Bb Eb Ab Db and then use a capo since somtimes i require this tuning (meshuggah) and often in metal going down 1 step. my question is, would i need a specific capo to cope with a 5 string neck?

I use a standard Shubb capo for acoustic guitar on my 5 string bass--not to play, but for set-ups. It works fine.

I use a Planet Waves NS Capo on my guitar and it has width to spare. I have used it on my bass to get the short-scale feel and sound. Beyond that it is also a really nice capo that doesn't put a death-grip on your strings like the spring-loaded ones can. You should probably measure your fingerboard at the highest fret you think you might need to put it, then go to a music shop with a ruler to find one you like.
