Vampire bass repair/mod

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a used warwick vampire bass. It seems to have a bug crack thats from pickup mount( not a stress fracture) I want to make this bass my detune bass. U essentially want to tune it bead or drop c. Any advice on the detune? Also if you where me would you bother with the unimportant fracture? I was thinking of placing sticker on it( Harley davidson ) of course lol. Notice crak between single coil and neck joint in front

If your certain the crack is just in the finish then is ok,m if its into the wood, isnt ok. Prob have to remove neck to see if crack extends in to wood and neck pocket. If just finish crack, does look pretty wide though, might just fill it and paint over with matching car paint touch up pen. Nice looking rockbass vampyre btw.

What's a "bug crack"?

It's helpful to go back and edit your posts if there are typos....

Probably not a big deal. As far as downtuning, go for heavier gauge strings with higher tension. Be sure also to do a new setup once you do.

IMPORTANT: File the nut slots out if necessary before putting heavier strings on - if they're too big it could break the nut and you'll have to replace it.
