Not sure if I'm in the right section here but does anyone
know if this looks like an original '72 Fender Precision
body? There are no markings (names or stamps)
in the neck pocket. It appears to be original from
the look of it. The pickups are def original. The pots
have been replaced. The serial number on the neck
plate dates to '72 and the neck stamp is '72. Just
find it odd that there are no names or stamps in
the neck pocket.
Are there other ways to determine if the body is original? Finish?
It looks like the pickguard has been on this body for a very long
time. Also, the underneath side of the neck plate has the same
wear/markings as found on the body. The bridge has the long
G screw. Everything seems to be ok with the exception of no
quality control name stamps or dates/markings in the neck
pocket. Looks too clean, can't figure that out.
What would tell you more is if you could pull the bridge and see how they bought the ground wire out to the plate. Fender
at that time routered a small cavity neatly for it. Many others
just had the drilled hole.
