Vintage Bass Collection guitar bridge screws replacement?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I recently picked up the bass guitar after getting a free one from church my choir director(and the amp too!). I have a dilemma. Until recently, I disregarded the fact that there was 1 screw missing from the bridge area. This was unavoidable when I finally decided to re-string it and realized I had to put it against the other saddles in order to make the saddle stay....then 2 weeks later it finally gave out :(Anyone know where I can get replacement "screws"? Are the screws universal or are there different sizes?

MORE INFO! Year, make, model - PIC? If it's a Fender it should be a 6 x 1 Philips Oval T/S A, Chrome or Nickel plated (depending on year) - if really vintage (pre CBS) 6 x 1 Phil Oval W/S Nickel plated. Other makes/models... no clue without a lot more info, but screws are out there.

OR - Are you talking saddle screws??? Again, more info needed - pics good too.

hmm...well, it's not THAT old. It's a brand that's now Nanyo(late 80's, early 90's) does that clear it up which one I should pick?

Take one of the other screws out as a sample and go to a hardware store.

Thanks man. I have the saddle out(the one where the screw never was) so I'd be able to get a estimate width at least.(I don't want to mess up the placement of any other strings, so I'll just trust Exaltbass.

A picture is worth a LOT of words... or, at least it's a good place to start. It's a lot like saying "I need a carburetor adjusting screw" - for what? A moped, a 1961 Volkswagen or a 1956 Caterpillar Bulldozer? I have more than 30 years in the fastener industry, and like we taught... you can't sell it if you don't know what it is that you're trying to sell.

Take on of the existing screws to a hardware store and you should be able to get replacements. Otherwise theres reasonable chance of not getting right ones if you order them thru somewhere. If need be for same look for all screws, just get enought for all the holes at hardware store so they all match.
