Vintage Style Jazz bass mutes?

Sign in to disble this ad
Howdy all.

My friend Dan inherited a Jazz bass from the early 60's thats a total Frankenstein. Its a stack knob, but we don't know if its original and the dates in the neck heel are illegible and partially painted over. So Me and him are trying to bring it back to stock condition, or as close to it as we can without breaking the bank.

Anyways, on the body there are four screw holes right in front of the bridge, and after much puzzling, we were told that the Jazz basses used to come with mutes (unlike the P-Bass where they were attached to the bridge cover) that were spring loaded?

So, does anyone know where one can get vintage style jazz bass mutes? I don't even know what they look like...

Thanks in advance.

Bass Parts Resource has sold them but are currently out of stock (they might be out of production). Link so you can see what they look like: http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/bhardware_mutes.htm

Sent an email to Fender about them, and they don't make them anymore. I'll shoot an email to gpr and hope that they might get them...

Just take your time and you'll find one. Ebay or other sources will come through.
