I was inspired by Denny, the Reigning King of Vinyl Inlays, to buy a couple sets from Jockomo (sp?). Well, I just finally put a set on. It's a project bass, it has a plastic fingerboard, so I said what the heck? Let's try it:
I just free-formed it. I'd have done much better to have some kind of centering system (as simple as lining up some wax pencil marks), but they look good enough for my $6.50 and 10 minutes.
And no, you don't feel them at all while playing.

| | | | Looks ok. Only time will tell what they look like after awhile of strings on them. Platsic fretboard? Yuck. But is inepensive project bass which you have so Id say is good for whatever experiements. Lol.

I do have my doubts for longevity of the vinyl stickers, but they are dirt cheap and even if they look cool for only a year... it's not that bad to lose them or replace them at that price.
But feel free to consult with MasterBass! (Denny) about how they last... he's the king!
