Walnut body

Hey guys, I'm just putting the finishing touches to a new bass body for a guitar I'm making and was wondering if anyone knew any good stains for a really nice smokey Peice of walnut? I want to try a dark red stain but I'm not shure what the outcome will be and walnut ain't cheap haha
Thanks for any feedback

Sometimes a hand rubbed oil finish looks great on walnut.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

Walnut is too beautiful to ruin with an unnatural stain. Especially considering that Walnut is dark to begin with. Stains are for lighter woods.
