Sign in to disble this ad
I was going to defret my rockbass corvette 5 but now i'm thinking about buying a new fretless neck from warmoth or something like that.

1. How will i know the neck will fit my bass?

2. Is this a realistic plan? Has anyone else tried this? Good idea/bad idea?

Thanks!

Measure the rockbass neck pocket. reference the neck pocket dimensions called out on Warmoth's site. take into account fretcount and heel type. do some measuring. do some more.

get back to us.

Oh, and I doubt it will work without a mod that isn't interchangeable with the original neck. Just my opinion.

I haven't looked at Warmoth's site in a while, but unless they sell a neck that's a liscenced direct replacement for Warwick, I doubt you'd be able to fit one to your bass without some serious work by a luthier. See if Warmoth can give you some input on that neck replacement - trying it might void a warranty or something.

I've got a Modulus fretless neck with threaded inserts for its bolts and I needed to get my Jazz body's holes redrilled for a good fit - the neck is made to fit a Fender pocket like Warmoth P and J replacement necks. Now if I want things to be interchangeable, I just need to redrill the screwholes on the fretted neck that I swapped off of it.

Sure. Buy a fretless rockbass and sell the body. You never know what will pop up on ebay as well.
