That's the best way I can describe it. My bass is an active Spector 5 with EMG-HZ'S. I have adjusted the pup height but it won't dial out. I have yet to try the saddle. The sound is almost chorus like..not much sustain. Nut? Bad string? Ideas?  |

When you said "chorus like" this came to mind as I had a similar problem. Weird Problem: Chorus-y sound from DR Fatbeams

My post on the thread was about a set of RotoSounds the owner had installed by hand winding the strings around the tuning post. Round wound's are especially prone to this problem.
If this is what your problem is, then usually just removing the string and re-winding it using the tuner to take up the slack will cure it. If it improves and still doesn't sound right, you may have to replace the string(s) in question.
