Warwick Bass.....Truss Rod too tight..Unrepairable?!?!?

Okay I had my Warwick thumb bolt-on intonated about a year and a half ago before some studio work. I am about to do some more studio work so I left it with a professional to intonate/set it up. I got a call from him today and he said whoever adjusted my bass last tightened the trussrod too much and its impossible to loosen it. He said the bass couldn't be "optimized" because of this. He told me the most cost efficient way to fix it was to order a replacement neck from warwick!! I'm sure that would cost almost the same as a new bass. I like how the bass played and sounded before, so is this a serious problem? Please let me know what I should do.

I'd take it to another luthier for another decision before you did anything like ordering a replacement neck.
