Warwick Corvette std 5 string saddle might be broken?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all, long time listener, first time caller.

I got me a Warwick Corvette STD 5 string and during setup, I was setting te section lower and saw that the b strings saddle wouldn't lower on one side...

I don't really know what to do, my guitarist friend suggestedgently knocking it with a hammer but i'm reluctant to do so.

Any suggestions?

Are you loosening the forward-facing locking hex screw?

Thanks for the clarification. Here's what I'd do...and have done: remove the string, loosen (maybe remove) the locking hex screw, and physically lift the saddle insert from the slot. Check to make sure the height adjustment screws are working properly, re-center the insert, and re-adjust to spec / taste. From the pic, I'm of the suspicion that the bass side of the saddle insert may be binding on the bridge body itself.

Hi, thanks for the great advice but it seems that my lovking screw is stripped! So I thought I was loosening it but nothing was happening. How do'I get this screw out?

Good question! Sometimes a newer and/or larger hex key will provide the necessary grab. Whichever way you go, it's a good idea to remove the entire B string saddle structure (insert and underlying block) so you get a clean shot.

Here are some other methods I recall:

*Drill w/ small bit, set in reverse.

*Screw extractor

*Flat head jeweler's screwdriver tapped gently into the recess.

*Torx driver, provided you find a small enough size, will provide plenty of grab, too.
