Question Warwick Just A Nut 3

Sign in to disble this ad
Right now I have a 5 string its chinese made, ive adjusted everything perfectly and I am very happy with it, however I did notice the nut is a very cheap plastic nut, I see warwick 5 string just a nuts 3 going for $20 at ebay, and it measures 45mm so its the same size as my current nut, string spacing looks to be the same, what are some advantages of installing a just a nut III vs installing a bone or graphite nut?

I have no experience with the Just-a-Nut III, but I requested a brass Just-a-Nut I for my custom shop Thumb N/T 5.

Warwick still supplies them, and that's what I'd be looking at personally.

I like that you can adjust individual string height, though it can be time consuming.

Some people claim they notice a difference between bone/brass/graphite/platic with the nuts. Most say they can't tell a difference.

I changed the nut on my 'wick from the JAN 2 to the JAN 3 and it seemed to help the strings resonate a bit better. The adjustability is nice if you like tinkering.

I think a proper setup with a bone, brass, or graphite nut done by a good Luthier is just as good if Not better than The Just a nut III and I'm a Warwick guy.

Thanks for the replies, I have no adjustment issues with this bass its pretty much perfect right now, I just feel I should upgrade the nut as it is a very cheap plastic nut, and the just a nut III seems like a very good choice due to the price, material, and the adjustability.)
