Warwick Neck Issue

Sign in to disble this ad
just got a used 2006 corvette standard. upon furthure inspection i notice that there is a ridge on the back of the neck where two of the necks three peices fuse (bass side). Its pysicaly noticable and the seem is visually more noticeable than the other side. Also the nck bows forward gradually from the 24th to 5th fret then it takes a sharper bow forward form the 4th to the bridge. Does it sound like ther are major issues with the neck or do you think the bow could be strightened by atruss rod adjustment? how about the seem a crack or poor craftsman ship? thanks

The ridge you feel is more than likely the result of varying expansion / contraction rates among the 3 pieces. My all-wenge Warwicks were the same way. It is not a defect. If the situation is truly bothersome, you can reduce the effect with a good rub-down (#0000 steel wool) followed by re-oiling and waxing. If only irksome, I'd leave it alone.

Unless you're familar with the quirks of neck relief / adjustment, I wouldn't go cranking on the trussrod just yet. Let a competent tech take a look at it first....may save you a lot of headaches in the future.
