Anyone know of a good tech in the Washingtonm, D.C. area that can fine-tune my new P-bass for me? Neck, intonation, string height etc?

Thanks!

Where are you? If you are on the MD side and can drive to Catonsville (just outside of Baltimore), I would recommend John Thurston at Thurston Instrument Repair. Not only is he a great tech, used by many local and not so local shops, he is a great guy and a bass player as well. If he is not backed up with work, he often will do simple adjustments on the spot for a fraction of what guitar stores would charge. However, as of a month or so ago, he was very busy, so I wouldn't expect this is the norm. If you just need simple adjustments, there are many good people around. Talk to the guys at Atomic Music in College Park.

whenever I've been out there I've always had Dwayne Bruner @ Atomic Music, College Park do my basses, and have always had lovely playing instruments as a result.

Anyone here know the staff there? Do Dwayne and Darren still work there? I wish there was at least one store like that in Scotland!

Well, went over to the Dr. Phunkypant's house today and got some great lessons in how to setup a P-bass. Not only did he set up my bass extremely well, he also taught me all the skills to do it myself from here on out...

Highly recommended if you're looking for a good bass tech in the DC area.
