Weight Loss

So I have a 1977 or '78 Jazz Bass which sounds wonderful. The problem is, as a Fender from that period, it weighs a ton. I'm thinking of looking into what I can do to reduce the weight without affecting the sound too much. Just to see what my options are. I was thinking of maybe getting a Marcus Miller sized cavity and putting an aftermarket MM pickguard over it.

I'm also aware of how much it is worth, and don't really mind doing something that will diminish the value of it. I plan on playing it until it falls apart before I sell it.

I love what a neoprene strap does to "lessen" a bass' weight &, at about $40 Cdn, would highly recommend you try one before any other steps are taken.

How much does it weigh? I'm just curious.

My 5'er is about 9.2 lbs via the digital bathroom scale. A wide strap made it a lot more comfortable and felt like it weighed less.
