Weird Buzzing Issue on D String!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Forum, i got a new bass a couple of days ago, it came poorly set-up.

It came with semi-low action (didn't measure it) but meh.. wasn't low enough, it has a weird buzzing issue but only on frets 3,4,5,6,7....

I gave the neck a little room for relief.. and got my action a little lower, but i have those buzzing frets, the weird part is that they only buzz on the D string, so, what could it be? high fret? way too low action? too little relief? string gauge?

Help me out here please!

Thanks in advance

Sounds like it is back bowed a little? May need a little truss rod action....sounds like "righty tighty" time.

Read the sticky for this forum and get the jerzy drozd setup document and settle in for a nice read.

Sounds like "lefty loosey", to me.

Agreed. Also, the fact that the issue is more pronounced on the D string might suggest that the D string slot in the nut is cut too low.

You're not discussing it, so I have to ask the obvious: did you try and lift the D string a bit at the bridge?
