Well, this is my thumb rest solution

Hello guys, i think many bassist have this same problem: placing the thumb in the neck pickup gives too much low end sound, and placing it in the bridge p-up give too much trebble... so, I like the most the sound right in the middle...

Then, my solution was this. I wouls like to see other people's works on this. I have a fretless 6er comming, so I'd love to see other ideas.

Started building a little piece of wood painting with a brown cheap marker, then painting it with varnish, then bending 2 planks of metal I found in home, then a rubber piece arrived from somewhere:

Z-shaped metal pieces go inside the wood piece, and below the mics. There is a little rubber rectagle between the mic and the meta, so pressure don't mark the bottom of the mic (not a problem but, it costs zero to make it). There is also another rubber piece between the wood piece and the wood body, yes is the one in the first pict.

Now I can place my thumb there when using B and E strings...

I know is not a big piece of work, but it solved my problem

What a neat little mod! Looks the part, cost almost nothing and it's completely reversable. Kudos.

Fantastic idea! great work, too.

May I make one improvement suggestion? Make the metal feet big enough so that they cover the pickup screw holes...drill holes in the feet so that the pickup screws go through the feet...
that way, that puppy is going NOWHERE! and still completely reversible!

Also with your ingenious method, you can fix a ramp to the bass the same way. Just use 4 feet instead of two...

Nice mod, but you should have mentioned "thumb rest" in the subject line of the thread so it could be found easily by people searching for a solution to the same issue.
