What exactly is a bridge saddle?

I have lost this little piece that goes onto the bridge that raises the string up off the bridge.

What is that called? Is this the saddle?

Can these be replaced at a guitar center or would I have to contact the manufacturer?

The saddle is the piece that actually contacts the string and usually has height adjustment screws and an intonation screw threaded into it.

In the picture below it's the piece with the groove around it:

Yes, that is the saddle. You can buy them online a lot of places. Allparts, Bestbassgear.com, basspartsdepot.com...etc. Guitar Center might have some in stock but I doubt it.

guitar center has piezo saddles and all these specialty items but nothing standard.

Aww man I lost mine. I have a peavey cirrus and it doesnt have the saddles with the spring. It is just a rectangular piece.

If you couldnt get a bridge saddle how would you rig one up?

got it found a lego piece and used it.
