Hipshot? I running with a Leo on my MiM J project. I want an aluminum Hipshot 'A' for my Carvin; and though off topic: that will require some careful planning. The Leo however, drpped right in the jazz.

I put a Gotoh on my MIM Jazz after the original bridge died, I like it and would recommend one though I've not used a Leo.

Awesome! Hipshot makes a aluminum 3 hole or 5 hole direct replacement for most fenders. That'll do with no modification necessary. Thanks

Gotoh, Hipshot, Schaller, or even the bridges sold by Carvin. Whichever you like thats in your price range.

I'm really happy with the Babicz Full Contact Hardware bridges I've installed on my P and fretless jazz. You might want to give them a look.

Hipshot makes a nice bridge. Whether it is an "upgrade' depends on the fault you're trying to correct. There's nothing wrong with the classic Fender bridge.

For the price, the Gotoh 201 from Warmoth works really well ($35). Otherwise, I've been very happy with the Babicz FCH bridges.

vintage threaded-rod saddles for me!

you could just get the saddles themselves for $20, solving all the problems with the strings shifting around, correcting the string spacing over the pickup magnets (which the 201 won't do) and subtly improving the sustain.
