If starting from zero on a set-up doesn't fix it....I would return it before removing the neck. That could cause problems trying to return it.

1 - The neck should have a little bit of bow to it, not be sitting "flat" with respect to truss rod adjustment.

2 - Sounds like a ton of adjustments in a short period of time. Relax, start from scratch, give it 24 hours.

3 - Sometimes cheap basses will not setup all that great. As others have said - nuts and poor fret work can 'cause lots of head aches.

4 - Make sure you are bringing the bass up to tune after all of these adjustments.

5 - Be patient. If you aren't patient, you will never be good at setup work.

What a surprise...

Somebody bought a mailorder instrument, and it's got a rotten setup.

I'm surprised no one has suggested that you take it to someone who knows what he/she's doing.

The op needs to take the bass to a tech who knows what he is doing. Also, most of the basses coming out of San Louis Obispo have neck shims -- it's common with bolt on neck basses.

I do find most basses, about 80%, I've been shipped did need a neck shim, but now we know that MF will pickup the return, I stand by my first post.......send it back.
