What size are the string ferrule retainers on a Hagstrom 8 string bass?

Hi, I'm in the process of building and 8 string Thunderbird bass. I have managed to source an 8 string bridge which appears to be identical to the bridge on the Hagstrom 8 string bass reissue. That is, it requires the strings to be loaded through the body.

Does anybody know what size string ferrules are used on the Hagstrom? I have come across two different types of these am not sure which to buy. The first set are 25.5 mm in height/depth whilst the second set are 14 mm height/depth.

I realise that the Hagstrom is a short scale bass but I am torn between using a medium scale (32 inch) or long scale (34 inch). The size of the string ferrule will have a bearing on the thickness of the body that I will be able to use.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
