What's the deal with Leo Quan?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just curious if any one knows. Every supplier I go to for a Bad Ass II 4 string chrome bridge is sold out and has been for months. Let alone the ones with slotted saddles. I even went to the Leo Quan website and emailed multiple times directly and never get a reply. Are they going belly up? Anybody hear anything?

I work for an online store and we usually sell them. Lately Leo Quan hasn't been answering the phone for us or any other distributor/supplier we've talked to.
Mighty Mite and WD started putting out a few Leo Quan knock offs for guitar that are pretty OK. Hopefully they will somehow get the bass bridges rolling too.

I have a local luthier building me a bass and he's been trying for quite a while to get a Badass II for another project with no luck...

I wouldn't be suprised if he's just been overloaded by Fender's orders... With they way they've been having to crank out Highway Ones & Geddys (I don't think the SH Sig has been too much of burden), they've probably been turning over all of the BAII stock to Fender as soon as it gets cranked out. He's probably backordered all to heck.

At this point he should start licensing the design.

Everyone knows that the licensed ones won't sound as good as the originals.

Nah. The only other bridge I would maybe go with is Babicz.

Just curious why not a Hipshot? Their brass bridges have just as much mass and saddle-body contact as the Badass.

I thought Leo Quan went out of business?

Wasn't that mentioned in another thread last month or so?

Sure would explain why nobody's answering the phone . . .

I bought a NOS Badass I bridge directly from him on ebay about 10 years ago and he answered all of my questions via email. I thought it was pretty cool.

I thought Leo passed away some time ago and they closed shop.

Too many Fenders come equipped with a Badass II for him to be out of business. More likely, he's just swamped with massive orders.

I can't imagine him going out of business. The demand for those bridges is crazy high.

This. I ve heard this from a few sources. If they do go licensed I will have to scoop up some before they start operations in Asia.
