When checking neck bow...

Sign in to disble this ad
None of the articles clearly state whether the distance of the bow is the distance from the string (assuming it is held down at the 1'st and 24th fret) to the fret or the string to the fretboard. In the first article it says simply measure by how far you can move the string, but it would appear he is using a fretless which I would think would make a difference. So, are you measuring to the neck, or to the metal fret marker itself? Even in my basses manual it says there should be .015" clearance...clearance to what?

Thanks

between bottom of the string and the top of the fret, or between the bottom of the string and the fretting point
