When to have fretwork done?

Sign in to disble this ad
My bass has a little fret sprout that gets worse in winter. Should I wait until winter to have a fret level and edges rolled? It's all maple also, I want the edges rolled. Won't the finish need to be redone as the filing will take it off?

Can you wait until winter to fix the sprouting? Cheaper to do it once (twice?) than every month until the dead of winter.

LMAO!!!

To me, at least, that reads like a South Shore of Nova Scotia accent.

What about rolling the edges on a maple board? Can it be done without having to seal the edges after? I'ts no big deal if I have to refinish, I just want to know ahead of time.

I'd guess it will want a refinish. I've only done it with rosewood & then oiled it.
