where is the best spot to mount a J pup on a P?

Should it be mounted in the standard modern jazz bridge position or closer to the bridge? I think I read that Mike Lull mounts his closer to the bridge on his P/J basses...

Anyone know why or have good advice???

Depends on how you want it to sound. the closer to the bridge it goes, the brighter it will sound.

It's called a P-special and there are only thousands and thousands of them out there. Not a problem. Find some in music stores and you can get measurements from them.
