where to buy MM style bass tuners

Where is a good place to buy. Ernie Ball wants $30 ea. Seems pretty high to me. Also can you use the same tuner on the treble side of the headstock? Thanks!

$30 is about right for good quality tuning gear. You can find them cheaper, but they are not of the same quality as the original. I'd prefer to have the stock tuner.

And no, the tuners on the treble side are reversed.

Forgive my ignorance, but aren't MM tuners pretty much the same as P (or J) tuners? If so, pretty much any supplier that does bass parts will be able to sort you out with a set, so if you do want to go down the 'cheap and cheerful' route, it should be that difficult to source parts.

Apologies if there is a glaring difference I've never noticed!

Actually the treble and bass side are the same tuner. You can change which side the peg is on by removing the retainer screw and gear, and flipping the peg. There are some ok after market tuners, but beware they may not fit the same footprint on the headstock.

It's Ernie Ball - you're paying for the name. HipShot makes a fantastic product (with a higher gear ratio, IIRC) that will surely retrofit it, and it's probably a little cheaper.

Additionally, I will sell you all 4 tuners (chrome) from a MM Stingray + the string tree for $50 shipped.
