Where do I find this tool for my peavey foundation?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up an old peavey foundation. I went to adjust the trussrod and found this bolt (see pic). Anybody know where to find this tool, the size, or what it's called?
Thanks.

Hi.

By the looks of it, that's a regular hexagonal nut, so the tool to adjust would be a socket(wrench).

Where to find?

From Peavey?

A well well equipped music shop should have one on their inventory, but sadly not all shops fall into that category.

On-line stores carry those as well, but unless someone chimes in with the exact size, no way to tell what to order.

Regards
Sam

It's a 5/16" hex. The Peavey thin wall tool is the best due to lack of room around the nut. I believe it's still available from Peavey.

I've read the Gibson 5/16" tool works. Never tried one myself.

Get the thin-wall truss rod from Peavey. There's not enough clearance for regular sockets in there, by design. You have to use that thin aluminium tool and if you just start cranking the rod that tool will round out. The design makes you pre-stress the neck and then snug the TR nut up instead of using the nut to move the neck (and compress the wood). It's the correct way to sdjust any truss rod.

Definitely get the tool from Peavey. I had a Foundation in 1985, and I searched high and low for a socket that would fit, and the only one that would work was the special socket from Peavey. Plus, the handle is a Phillips head screwdriver for the truss rod cover!

It's the same as the Gibson Les Paul tool. Any local tech should be able to get it for you or you can find it on line. My Palaedium has the same adjustment.

Looks similar to the Rickenbacker nut as well, they should sell their thin 1/4" socket tool on their website as well.
