Question Where to get Yamaha RBX774 Replacement Neck

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Yamaha RBX774 Bass Guitar that I absolutely adore, the sound is phenomenal. When there are flatwounds on it it has the smoothness of an upright. I put roundwounds on it once just to see what it would sound like and to my huge surprise it had the best slap sound I had heard out of any instrument anywhere close to it's price. But the model is no longer sold in the United States.

There is one thing I do not like about the bass though, the thickness of the neck, I very much prefer to have a very thin neck, this one isn't terribly thick, but I'd love to go thinner.

I have done woodwork all my life, and am fairly confident I could edit the neck to my wants without too much of a problem. But since I need to be as careful as I can, it will take sometime, and I don't want my favorite bass to be down for the count for too long. So I want to get an extra neck, exactly the same as the one I have, same make, material, etc - if possible. That way I can edit that neck and when it's ready, put it on the bass. This is also a safeguard so that if I somehow mess up, my bass will still be fine.

My problem is, I don't know where to get a neck for this bass. I called my local music stores and all of them keep referring me to a different store because they don't provide that service. So I'm wondering if there is a place online I can order a neck from, I checked the official Yamaha site and couldn't find if they sell replacement bass necks.
