No one has been able to answer this question. Obviously Fender bought a large number for their Highway 1 (or One basses) but I've heard these have been discontinued.

There has been a lot of negativity towards BA s and I think many used ones you see on E-Bay were removed from Highway basses and replaced with a vintage bent metal Fender or other non high mass bridges.(due to bad publicity here and elsewhere)

I have 5 Fender basses and have the original bridges on 3 and BA s on both my Fretless Jazz and will admit that I love them for that application.

I do see unopened ones occasionally, but I think those just NOS.

I had no problems whatsoever buying a Badass III from Bass Pickups | Preamps | Bartolini | Aguilar | Leo Quan Badass Bridge II about 2 months ago now.

A bit of Quan BS:

"and eliminates the inaccurate harmonic tuning caused by "round" shaped, and "roller" saddles of other bridges"

What negativity/bad publicity? I'm not aware of any. It's just a bridge. Only bad press I'm aware of is sometimes someone puts one on and finds they can't get the action low enough without shimming their neck. But, heck, that happens with other types as well. Happened to me, with a Gotoh.

Try Ebay or do some web searches. I know they went out of production but I believe someone did pick up production again.

My opinion: spending the money for a Hipshot bridge is a better investment than a Badass. Also, the guys at Hipshot will answer the phone if you call, and they will discuss your application intelligently and helpfully.

I needed a replacement bridge I'd go straight to Hipshot if they had any bridge that fit my need.

It is my understanding that Leo died recently and is unable to answer emails.

(That's not a joke.)

Not much chatter about Babicz bridges, but I came across them while looking for a Leo Quan (RIP) and was having the same problem. I snagged the Babicz for my Fender jazz 4 and have no regrets, i love it. I'll put another on my 5 string jazz too.

The only negativity I've seen is a reaction to all the kids who get a bass and the first thing they do is either install a BA, or post on here about how they are going to install a BA, or post on here asking why they can't find a BA---when the bridge already on the bass is just as good, and the BA will sound identical.

They had very inconsistent availability of their products for quite some time. About 2 years ago I was almost desperately looking for a black BAII and couldn't find a single one...nothing on ebay and nothing from searching/mailing multiple online stores. And then, after searching for half a year, suddenly ebay was stuffed with black BAII's.

If it's true that Leo's brother is continuing the shop then only patience can help....or used. If not...well no idea, but I can't imagine these bridges to never be produced again.

I dont really understand the OPs statement.
There are tons on ebay.
Including this NEW - Leo Quan Badass V 5-String Bass Bridge - BLACK | eBay

I know he said chrome but the example has been made.

I have been buying BAII bridges for years now (as they are standard bridges on US ST BC Riches) and Ive never had any trouble finding them. Ever. I doubt that Ive gotten lucky 5 plus times years apart.
Not trying to sound rude or anything, I just dont understand the problem with finding them.

Ok Mr. I have all the answers....lol......its not a coincidence that many bassist share the same concern that I do. When you find me a Chrome badass V bridge let me know. And yes Ive been able to buy Leo quan products in the past. I've had 5 badass 2s, 2 badass 3s, and 1 badass V. But that was past and this is present, and presently there is a shortage...thank you! Lol

I used a Babicz on a new bass I was making and I really like them. The way the string height adjusts is really cool. I can't really explain it but suffice it to say it only has one thing to turn.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for the BAII. I've had plenty of basses with various different bridges and my favorite after-market bridge so far is the BAII. It doesn't feel cheap and I've never had problems with saddles jumping around when tuning down and playing hard. I don't know what the sonic differences may or may not be compared to others, but I did notice an improvement in tone (per my own ears) which is possibly linked to the strings remaining solidly in contact with the other elements of the bass (as opposed to flopping around). They make setups a breeze too.
