Where to put the grounding wire on my P Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I am building a parts bass and so far it has been pretty straight forward. I have a pre-wired USA P Bass pickguard with the S1 switch. I am trying to set it into my 2008 MIM P Bass Body. Since it is already wired, no big deal. But there is a grounding wire (I am assuming) hanging loose. I notice there is a small hole that leads to the bridge. I am wondering where I attach this thing to? Can I put a screw in the cavity and attach it or should it be strung through the existing hole and into the bridge? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You got it, its the bridge ground. Stick it through the hole so it pops out where the bridge goes, make sure some wire is exposed at the end, then screw the bridge down. Cool?

No need to attach it to anything--just leave it exposed resting under the bridge??? Sorry, this is my first adventure into a parts bass.

Correct. Contact is all that's required.

Clamp the bare end of the wire against the body with the bridge. There should be a hole from the electronics cavity to the bottom side of the bridge that you can thread the wire through.

Nope, the pressure from the mounting screws will keep it nice and snug.
