There's this
this
and this

Of a nut-buzzing history on my bass(Bongo 5). Turnaround has been helping me out with this problem(i.e. tried as much as he could to reduce the buzz without replacing the nut then eventually replacing the nut [after MM sent the wrong nut up], and I'm grateful for his help) but the problem remains. So there's a new nut on it and in an effort to try and alleviate the problem, I threw on some new strings. They were a lighter gauge but, I figure, 'Hey, new nut should handle it. These ones are getting kinda old'. Yeah, no, made it 10x worse. I'll probably end up bringing it back up to Toronto to get it back to Turnaround but money's tight and I can't afford it right now.

Sympathy? Ideas?

ironically I had a dream about the neck on my bongo breaking in half after a friend was playing it.

I'd PM TB'er "bovinehost", as he is an EBMM insider with a lot of connections. He can probably connect you with the best options in your area, or advise who to send it to elsewhere.

It's worth noting that when you change to lighter gauge strings, the existing slots will be too wide and may cause the string to rattle. Also since the lighter gauges have less string tension, the setup I did will not be optimum - there's probably too little relief now.

Having said that, I am quite prepared to work on the problem, and there will be no further charge. But I will have to charge again if the string gauge is changed yet again and a problem surfaces.

Common sense, I appreciate it, I'll make my way up sometime >.<
