Who is "Billy" Badass and why......

...are the set screws digging into my BAIII bridge's body?
I am doing a setup after new PU's and strings and when settin the intonation the string guides are sticking. I took it apart and there is the evidence scratches and a dot where the height set screws were.

Who is "Billy anyway? He should have used softer set screws or harder plating.

To my knowledge, you're supposed to loosen the strings before changing string height set screws, specifically to prevent the screws from drilling into the baseplate.

Could be/probably the problem, I may have caused it. I'm trying to learn setups but paid a Luthier to do it up until this time.
Curious about why the name "Billy" is on the back of each string saddle.

I have an original first run BA III bridge and it came with two sets of saddles: One set were grooved & on set were not...One of the sets of saddles were called "Billy" saddles. I will have to find the bridge, it is still in it's original packaging and the back of the package explains the "Billy" name (as well as the other saddles). I will post more when I locate the bridge (possiby one set of saddles are brass & the other are steel...not sure).

A little late to this party, but I did find this, from some forum or another )

"...the Leo Quan Special Edition package of the chrome Badass III bridge. It has two (2) sets of bridges, which are interchangeable. It has the Grooved Saddles (the "Billy" saddles) and a set of the Full Saddles (the "Bob" saddles). The Grooved have more attack, and are ready to go right out of the package. The Full saddles are 'woodier/warmer', but must have custom grooves cut into them. It is recommended this be done by a professional who will take into account your strings, style, etc. "

FS: Badass III Special Edition w/ Grooved and Full Saddles

And-

"...two kinds of BA 3's currenting in production. one is known as "bob", which has flat saddles that need to be filed for your strings. the just recently came out with a BA 3 known as the "billy". now the billy has little grooves cut into the saddle so that filing down is not needed. if you dont believe me next time you see a Badass III bridge turn over one of the saddles. their should be a name under them, either billy or bob."

As a Billy myself, I can assure you that we are all badass.

I really need to buy a Badass III
