Who can restore an old Vox?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a 1968 Constellation IV teardrop-shaped bass(sorry no pics, but she's pretty rough, poor thing ), which I'd like to get functionally restored. By that I mean having the electronics gone through & if possible, made reliable(w/an eye towards keeping it as original as possible or at least nothing done that can't be easily reversed). Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Edit: This one has the fancy electronics- bass/treble booster, G-tuner & distortion, so it's more than I'd want to let the average tech fiddle with(no offense to any 'average' techs out there ).
Edit #2: After a quick trip to www.voxshowroom.com I determined that my bass is not a Bill Wyman as I had been told when I bought it(circa '82 or so)but a Constellation IV.

bassteban - Constellations are sweet basses. I've got a 69 Sidewinder with all the bells and whistles (g-tuner, distortion, bass/treble boost)
When I got mine, I just disassembled went through *everything* and cleaned the heck out of it. Used contact cleaner on the pots, resoldered anything that needed it and she's been fine since.

I hope it goes well and pics are a must. My second bass was a Delta IV. When I got it it the original electronics were gone and it had Rickenbacker guitar pups in it. I put it through several pup changes, finally settling on a Bartolini Hi-A. I would have loved to have restored it.

Sorry, still no pics; computer/camera/USB cable glitchiness. Maybe tonight...
Matrok, this is my second bass. Gigged w/it in the mid-80s, in a hardcore punk band(appropro..? ). Amazingly, it has pretty much survived, albeit not unscathed. In fact it's quite scathed.
