Wide Bridges

Sign in to disble this ad
By any chance can anybody point me into the direction of any companies that make bridges with string spaces larger than 19mm (.75")? I'm looking for a replacement bridge for a 5-string fretless bass. The current bridge is handmade out of wood similar to a Carl Thompson. Although it looks cool, it is really a pain since I can't adjust the height other than by shaving the individual saddles (what if I go too far? What if I want a different string guage?) I'd really appreciate the help.

You could always check out a monorail bridge system. You can put any spacing you like, plus it helps the sound out by isolating the strings. Helps resonance or sustain, I can't remember which.

That's a really great idea, but I really like the look of a solid bridge. But I will keep that in mind if I can't find a bridge. Thanks!

You could go for a un-notched 5 string Badass and make your own spacing.
