Can any one explain what all the screws and bolts on the Wilkonson bridge are for and how to use them properly? i have one on my new bass but only know how to use a typical fender style system.
Also while we're at it is it okay to take all the strings of a six string bass at the same time? i cant afford new strings and just wanna soak them in alchohol
Thanks

if the screws are like on my bro's guitar wilkinson bridge there will be 2 allen head adjusters for height (little ones at front like fenders) and a medium allen bolt in the middle of the saddle this is like the intonation screw on your typical fender BUT you have to loosen it VERY gently and make only MINOR adjustments manually forward and backward (best to slacken strings to releive tension as the saddle will be pulled towards the neck by strings). hope this helps if its the same type of saddle layout

as far as removing strings it doesnt really matter tension wise if you take all of the strings off just dont chop them off all at once as that could cause a big shock to the neck, but one at a time removal should be ok (how else are you to clean your neck and frets). if you have a major problem with the neck (dodgy/knackered truss rod) then it could be risky but most basses/necks are fine.

Yes. The proper purpose of all the screws and bolts is to illustrate just how badly the Wilkinson bridge sucks. The proper way to use them is as anchoring posts for tying a length of strong twine to the Wilkinson bridge - so that you can achieve maximum velocity & distance when swinging the Wilkinson bridge vigorously around your head, just prior to flinging it away...
