I have a 1971 P-bass. It has a good fretless neck, and a fair
1969 P-bass fretted neck. The fretted neck was refretted (Ok job),
oversprayed (bad job), has the classic 18-20th fret bump and almost
no truss rod adjustment left. The E string tuner's "blade" is loose.
This bass is a player and sounds GREAT. The electronics and all hardware
(except the neck plate, which was kept by the previous owner) are
original. I use this bass and love it. I often swap to the fretless neck.
I think I want to try using one of those 70's RI cij rosewood necks to replace my sad old '69 neck.
Do I have to worry about a cij RI neck fitting the pocket of my older
P-bass?
Is this a bad idea? Good idea? Thanks!
ps. I call this '71 bass a '70, because I often use a '69 neck: '70 is the average of '71 and '69.
