What's this, why and how did this happen.Yesterday there was nothing, today I pick it up and...

| | | | Don't jump to conclusions. It may just be a surface blemish that doesn't go deeply into the neck. But, since your bass is only 2 months old, contact the manufacturer and let them look at the picture. They should offer to replace the neck if it's serious. |

| | | | It is an odd crack. It is right on the grain line which is the winter wood. The winter wood in a tree is the harder of the two because it is slow growth.
If it is a new bass, take it back to the store. It should be covered under warranty.
Cracks like this tend to be stable. If the crack has been through a few annual changes in temperature and humidity and hasn't closed back up you can have some super glue wicked in and finished. But right now you don't know if it will close up when the humidity increases. |

| | | | I've heard that Lakland is a reputable company and I'm sure that they'll make it right for you. It may be a bit of inconvenience for you though. |

| | | | It looks like a stress-crack from the trussrod, much like the one I had on a Fender Jazz neck... Contact the seller, and get it replaced... |

I would definitely contact Lakland. If they don't come through for you, let us know. There are plenty of people here who could help you get this repaired. |

Even if everything goes well and Lakland decides to take it back and replace the neck, its going to take months.
I've treated some one really bad lately, now this,my most precious thing...I'm wondering if Karma is true.

| | | | Good. Keep trying if there is no reply in a reasonable time. Meanwhile, take the bass to an experienced tech, if there is one near you. See what he says. It might be nothing serious. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
