Will a normal right handed J-bass nut work on a left handed bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,

Quick question:

Will a right handed nut work on a left handed bass?

Yesterday I screwed up bigtime trying to file down the nut slots resulting in a severely broken nut (3 pieces). Yes, I am an idiot.

I got a big gig coming this weekend with band practice every day of the week so I need a new one, fast.

Will a normal pre-slotted j-bass nut, flipped around, and maybe file down a bit of the slope the grooves have, work?

And on a sidenote, what is the best way to get rid of super glue without destroying a nitro finish (don't even ask).

Thanks a million,

Took it to a qualified repairguy, this stuff is clearly way beyond my capability. Nearly destroyed the nitro finish trying to dissolve the glue with acetone (I hereby nominate myself for a Darwin award)

Funny though, It's a Warmoth bass I put together myself while nearly destroying the whole thing filing down a nut...
