Wiring my bass

Sign in to disble this ad
I am putting together a Frankenbass that will have P and MM pickup configuration. I want to have it wired with a volume control for the P, and a 3 way switch and volume control for the MM. No tone controls at all. Is all the hardware I need: 2 volume pots, a 3 way switch, output jack, and 2 knobs? Will I need capacitators even though I have no tone controls? Thanks in advance for any replies.

3-way switch: Are you talkin' about a pickup selector (P, P+MM, MM) or
some kinda' coil splitter/combiner for the MM pup?

I'm talking about a coil splitter/combiner for the MM pickup.

okie doke .

I'll see if I can mock-up a possible wiring diagram .

You're right tho -- "2 volume pots, a 3 way switch, output jack" is
what you'll need. If you just wanna' switch the MM from say, series
to parallel, you could maybe have it's volume pot with a DPDT attached
to the back (if there's enough depth to the control cavity). It'd be
one less hole in the topside. Same number of holes also if you used
a stacked pot (volume-volume) and separate coil switch.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Wiring my bass

Here you go.

EE types, feel free to tear it up ...

The MM wire color code is based on the S/D standard -

   Black: Coil 1 +
   White: Coil 1 -

      Red: Coil 2 +
   Green: Coil 2 -

A DPDT on-on-on will give you series-split-parallel
