Woodworking problem(mainly)

I have a Atelier Z 5 string jazz bass,It is perfect except for the fact that the bridge pickup is in the 60s location and I want to move it back about 1/4" to the 70s location.
That requires routing and would of course leave a huge scar on a very valuable instrument.
Is there a way to fill in the gap that I would get, that would make is less visible? Like ( I'm guessing here) cutting out the chunk from the back and moving it to the front of the pickup?
I know this is a long shot and I should probably leave the instrument as it is.At the same time there are lutiers that can do amazing things. And if there was a way....
I just don't know is THIS is possibe.

The grain will not match. It would be better to search through the scrap bin looking for matching pieces. It is also a very difficult cut to make cleanly. A better approach would be to laminate a new top so that the surface is all one with itself. It is an awful lot of work for the quarter of a inch.

IOW, leave it alone. If you cannot live with it as it is, sell it and buy something you like.

You're right, it would be very difficult. If the bass wasn't natural it would be easier. And the grain is really beautiful as it is.
Actually now that I've had the bass for a few weeks it is really growing on me as it is.And besides I already have a bass that does the Marcus thing perfectly...my souped up 74 Jazz.

You have much more to lose than to gain. Don't do it. I'd bet a steak dinner that it won't make a bit of audible difference in the sound, either.
