The worlds cheapest instrument

My son brought home a guitar that had been lying in a school cupboard for 5 years. If I can make it run, it gives the guitarist something to play at school.

Its a strat clone called a "mustang". The tuners weren't so much smashed as "fell apart". All the pots spin around so the wiring got chewed up. But the killer was when I took the neck off the see how to repair cracks comming from the joint.

The body is made of MDF!!

It doesn't sound like it is worth repairing. For all the time and money you put into this, you could just buy an SX strat clone.

Sounds like the guitar my dad got me in 9th grade.
I eventually did a 'Jimi at Monterey' number on it with
some Ronsonol. Worthless POS. 1960's Japanese plywood.

Mustangs are considered collectible by some people, I wouldn't write it off so quickly.

Mustangs (Fender) weren't made from MDF if I remember correctly.
