worn finish=warped neck?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a squire and when i was younger i sanded the finish on the neck cus i heard somebody say it felt way better. the finish was all ready satin and not to thick but now it is worn down to the wood in some places and I'm worried that because i live in Colorado where its dry the neck will start to warp. its straight now but i was wondering if i should sand and put some finish on it. i have a jaguar and i like the finish on that so maybe some poly. do you think i have anything to worry about?

Myself, I wouldn't leave the wood bare. I like the no-varnish neck back, & I finish mine with pure, real tung oil.

a maple neck without a finish is a future pretzel.

why do you think the rosewood is brown and inlays white? it looks like a pretzel, with big grains of salt.

the lack of finish will complete the illusion

Consider using the Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil and Gunstock Wax, like EBMM does.

You may make a real mess trying to apply poly.

I HATE stingray necks. they always fell sticky when they are fresh and it seems like after they have been at gc a while they get all gunked up and the grossness abounds.

That's because it's GC. ALL the bass necks are sticky and nasty.

so if I tried the oil and hate it is it possible to somehow remove it and go with something else? it does sound like the easiest and cheapest route.

Geee... thanks a lot. That would be one big honking pretzel! Now I'm hungry.
