Would a Jazz neck fit into a P bass neck pocket??

Sign in to disble this ad
I've just bought myself a new project bass, It's a Westfield (UK company, along the lines of SX's) P-bass. I'd like to swap the neck out for a jazz bass neck with block inlays. Will a jazz neck fit into a P-bass body neck pocket. Are the 2 necks the same width at the neck pocket end?

Well, Fender Precision and Jazz necks are interchangeable, as are the major aftermarket ones, e.g. Allparts, Warmoth, etc.
However, SX neck pockets are bigger. If you research here, you'll see that some people say they have trouble putting Fender necks on SX bodies and vice versa. (And I've even seen people say that, every once in a while, SX necks don't fit on different SX basses.) I'm not familiar with the bass you have, but I'd recommend measuring the neck pocket yourself (or find some documentation somewhere) and then read the specs posted on the aftermarket guys' websites.
Good luck!
