Yamaha BB400 Parts

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all.

I've got a BB400 bass, and one of the tuners is missing a retaining screw for the peg- the peg is just set into the gear through the headstock and not held in place by its large Phillips-headed screw. The peg stays by means of tension from the string alright, but tuning is a tenuous deal... anyone know where I can find just that screw?

The entire tuning machine is not even listed on the parts sheet .pdf for the bass. I did write Yamaha, they got back and sent me the Adobe document, but the part I need is not mentioned on the list.

Any direction to head in would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

PM sent. Did you ever get a resolution to this? Two of my BB400 tuners are pretty slack and unless there is a way to tighten them up, I'm going to have to replace them.

Hey Zuben, I'll post here the jist of my reply to your pm...

I took one of the screws from a complete, working tuning machine and brought it to a fastener outlet here in town. They sell machine-type screws, etc, to the machine and mechanic shops in town, and I go in there from time to time with these types of issues.

I'd forgotten about those guys when I posted! The screw I got was a little different- black, and an Allen head, but it's the same thread. I still have to keep after the tuning a bit, I've had basses with better tuners I think. But I think that the screws just need a tightening. Now I'll have to post again later, after I go try it!

I'm a pretty busy dude, actually...
