I have my eyes on something new so here's my stunning 2000 Alembic Mark King Signature Standard up for sale
It has a lovely flame maple top with mahogany body & ebony board with dual truss rods and Gotoh machine heads and switchable red LED's.
Scale is 34″ and it's 1.75″ at the nut and 2.25″ at 24th fret
Pickups are Alembic AXY4
The controls on a Signature are volume, balance, neck pickup filter, neck Q switch, bridge pickup filter, and bridge Q switch.
For those of you who don't know - The filter control is a low pass filter; as you roll it back it lowers the point at which it passes low frequency signals and blocks high frequency signals.
To quote Mica form Alembic, “the range is from 350Hz-6KHz. Wherever you set the filter, only frequencies below that cutoff point are passed.”
The Q switch works in concert with the filter and provides an 8db boost at the cut off frequency you’ve set with the filter. When the switch is off you get a flat response up to the filter setting. Again to quote Mica, “the Q affects mainly the attack portion of the note”.
These options give so many tonal variations and you can really use them live to get different sound settings at the flick of a switch!
All the controls are smooth and crackle free
There is a slight ding on the front of the body in line with the bridge and there’s a very minor hairline crack on the neck near to the nut.
I was reliably told by a previous owner that this was professionally repaired by none other than Mike Lull himself back in around 2002/2003.
The previous owner to me had the bass for 6 years without experiencing any issues and the crack hasn't move a fraction.
It really is very minor and doesn't effect playability in the slightest. It's difficult to tell but I'd guess it's only a surface crack and isn't going to give any problems in the future.
It was also professionally checked over by the UK distributors, The American Guitar Centre, in August of 2010 and they also confirmed there were no issues with it. It was professionally set up at this time and has been hardly played since.
Comes with a standard G&G 'vintage-style' fitted hard case.
Priced at £2,250 (approx €2,575) plus actual shipping costs. Happy to chip anywhere in the world that the major shipping companies like uPS & Fedex will cover
Ding on the body:
Hairline crack:

I'd be happy to look at trades on anything that might be easy to sell in the future such as US made Fenders, Musicman Rays, Laklands etc.
Would ideally like a decent wedge of money to head my way to help fund something else but depends on what someone might have to offer.
Basically happy to listen to any potential trade offers really

| | | | I would like to buy it! Hi!
My name is Yusuke, Kobayashi as "kobarin99", living in Tokyo Japan.
I love Mark king very much, so would like to have Alembic bass ASAP.
Please let me know how to pay, and when I get it.
Level 42 will come to Japan at the end of July, if possible, I may have it in time and get autograph of Mark on Alembic bass. |

From memory it's not a real 'beast' like some similar models can be but it's certainly no lightweight either.
I'd say it's in the 9.5lbs - 10lbs range. I'll see if I can get it weighed & will let you know
