This is a great bass- sounds and plays wonderfully, and looks amazing, but I prefer the later split-coil Ps for the band I'm in now.
It is 100% original, and includes both covers. Unlike most '68 and '69 Teles, the original vinyl pickguard is intact, as the earlier cellulose versions disintegrated over the years and have had to be replaced.
Finish is Vintage White, which has yellowed nicely, showing a bit whiter where there is arm contact, for example. Any dark patches on the body you see in the photos are just shadows.
The neck is fat, wide, and chunky- very comfortable if you like big necks. There is a bit of darkening on one small spot, under the finish, but it's smooth to the touch and barely noticeable visually. I tried to show it in one of the pictures below.
Weight is under 9lbs with both covers on!-extremely light for these basses as most were in the 10lb. range. It balances perfectly on a strap.
Sound is amazing- very high output, with a very wide frequency range. The lows are huge and the highs quite extended and very present with the tone knob wide open. This bass can thump like crazy and really sing, depending on the strings. It's wearing DR Hi Beams at the moment and sounds great, though I've had flats on it as well, which really change the character of the instrument. Tapewounds give a gorgeous upright-like tone to these basses, too.
Grey bobbin PUP is in perfect shape, as are the electronics, and the bass is quiet for a SCPB. Bridge is the original two saddle one, and I've had no trouble intonating the instrument properly with it.
Zero fret-wear, no major dings or nicks, I can call the condition excellent with no hesitation. It would make a good collector's piece but really deserves to get played.
The black hardshell case is not a Fender one, but it works fine and is in great condition.
I'll ship anywhere, and I only charge exact shipping costs, using the method of shipping of your choice. I accept Paypal or bank transfers, and will ship immediately upon receiving payment. If you are near Vevey in French Switzerland you can try it out at Art Music, where I also have it on sale on consignment. I can also deliver within reasonable distance, and local pickup is also possible, as long as you don't mind trying it through my SVT!
Here is a link to the rest of the crappy pictures I took in the sunlight when I bought the bass (I can send you pictures taken indoors that show the finish condition better, and the neck date stamp, but I don't want to post them here as they belong to the person from whom I bought the bass):
