Hi,
For sale is my favourite fretted bass, ever (!):
Al Caldwell's old custom
Conklin sidewinder 9-string bass.
Dragonwood body, hollow, 10cm thick. Painted black with gold specks.
Maple and purpleheart neck with matching black headstock.
34" scale length.
Rosewood fingerboard with 24 frets.
Gotoh tuners, inlaid Dunlop strap locks.
Two custom Bartolini pickups.
RMC individual bridge pieces with piezo pickups.
RMC Poly-Drive circuit with GK connector.
Tuned F# B E A D G C F Bb - in fourths all the way. You may tune it differently, of course.
There used to be some nice photos of it on the Conklin web site, but since they remodeled it I can't find them.
http://www.9stringbass.com/ has some photos the other one, which is identical except it's white.
Here are two photos, click for high resolution:
Sound clips:

New retail price on one like this is around USD $8,785 (according to Mike Apperson, quoting the 2008 price list). The bass is in very good condition. Everything works as it should.
I'll probably shoot more photos next week.
Why am I selling?

Well I don't have any gigs. And I need the money, as I am moving and getting married. I've listed some other basses for sale as well. I'm thinking that I'll keep one of them, and it'll be the one that is left.
No trades, I'm doing this only because I need the money. It's a lovely instrument, and I would honestly rather keep it. And if nobody is insterested, I'll keep it.
In the unlikely event that all my basses are sold, I'll have to buy a new one. That'd be fun.
