Ho Ho Ho! It's never late for your Lakland Santa! Not in April! It is always time for a treat! Get yourself into a Lakland Christmas!
So I have these two rare/unique Lakland basses that I decided to let go. They are as good as Lakland may get. The reason I'm doing this is mostly financial aspect, but also I concluded that the 55-94 fits me as a glove, just nails "the" bass for me. Also, a floor version of the famous Lakland preamp that you can find in your Christmas sock or stocking, depending on your gender and personal choice.
This one is a Lakland Skyline Lakland Owners Group Limited Edition PJ5. One of a limited run of 30 very special basses built to commemorate Lakland enthusiasts. Ash body in a rare US-series color, rosewood with gorgeous blocks and binding and a pickup of your choice. The bass has a LOG serial number and comes with a certificate signed by President of Lakland.
Also this bass has birdseye maple on the BACK of the neck (the only one that I've personally seen on a Lakland, let away the Skyline).
But, this is not all the catch. This bass has gone through the hands of Da Man himself. Carl Pedigo, master luthier for Lakland for over a decade, has made some cool stuff for me. He added a custom wound J-pickup in the bridge to the Lakland Hanson Vintage P and did custom wiring. He installed VT/VT stack pots to complement the pickups.
Having owned a few PJ basses I know how the J tends to be just a mixup to the P, not good on its own. NOT THIS TIME!
My idea was to have a bass that would sound as a true JB on the bridge, a true PB on the neck and a very close to a JB with both pups on. Well, Carl did it all - and better. All coils up - and you get a snarling jazz. Roll the volume of the P down to 13 o'clock and close the J, and you get a thumpy, in- your- face P bass. Soloing the bridge pup gives you the bridge J sound on demand.
Carl also worked on the neck for me. He changed the finish for the tung oil soaking that is found on the US series Laklands, and added a bone nut for responce. The bass was PLEKked, hence ridiculously low action I adore - but you can change that to your taste
As such, it is a stellar, one of a kind bass.
Comes in a SKB that I got it with.
My price is EU 995 plus actual shipment. Will include shipment in the price if shipped without the case, neck detached. Open for suggestions
