**URGENT!!** Need song suggestions for a trio, ASAP!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

My band is booked to do a gig this Friday, but somehow no one remembered to pencil it into our calender, and long story short only three of the five members of my band will be able to do the gig. We're in need of song suggestions for a trio setup that consists of guitar, drums, and bass.

We've already composed a potential list of songs to do which includes:
The Chicken
Cantelope Island
Wagon Wheel
Character Zero
Werewolves in London/Sweet Home Alabama
Ain't No Sunshine
Summertime
All the Small Things
Cocaine
Funky Bitch
and a few original tunes we can pull off in this setup

We obviously aren't too genre specific, but we're definitely in need of tunes that are relatively easy to learn and can be pulled off well in this sort of setup. Any suggestions are very much so welcomed!

Thanks!

Not trying to be a smarta$$,but that's all you really need to do any song..I wouldn't sweat it,as long as you guys can play and sing at the same time..

But to the original question..Any Jack Johnson-simple/catchy is his theme

So, are you only able to be instrumental? It wasn't stated if you/guitarist/drummer also sang.

White Room by Cream

^^^Recognizable, technically impressive, and fun to play.

Add It Up/anything by the Violent Femmes

Murder by Numbers by the Police

PM me your email and I will send you a copy of our set list. We are a variety cover band that covers the last 60 years. Almost all songs are 3-4 chords and the truth.

Here is a snippet and probably the most easy stuff from the list:

Ball and Chain
Blue Suede Shoes
Dancing With Myself
Don’t you forget about me
Folsom Prison Blues
Last dance with mary jane
Good
Hey Jealousy
Friday I’m in Love
I shot the sheriff
Lets get it on
Want you to want me
Jenny 876-5309
Jessies Girl
Knockin on Heavens Door
Mony Mony
Mustang Sally
Play that funky music
Pretty Woman
Really got me
Proud Mary
Take the Money and run
Fortunate Son
Anyway you want it

Any Rush song?

My trio used to cover Foo Fighters My Hero. It's not a "trio" song, but it was fun to play and I got to do some cool parts in place of the other guitarist.

Uhhhh... your a trio.... pretty much anything. You wouldn't believe the amount of random songs I've played as a trio which are just shouted by drunks at the shows.

Booker T & the MG's covers might work...minus the keyboards of course.

So what'd you decide on, jmatt?

My girlfriend lives in Knoxville, by the way, and I've seen some acts there... all amazing!

Though some of these have more than one guitar, they can be played ok with a guitar-bass-drums trio

Wipe Out - The Surfaris
Bad Moon Rising - CCR
Rock This Town - Stray Cats
Trademark - Eric Johnson
Rock'n Me - Steve Miller Band
I'm the Man - Joe Jackson
London Calling - The Clash
